Last Saturday was Moving Planet day, an international day of action in support of renewable energy. Events were held in 175 countries. Here in Melbourne people got together to make a human sign of someone riding a bike. I am sitting near the knee.
The event was coordinated by 350.org a group dedicated to spreading the word about the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The 350 refers to the goal of 350 parts per million of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere, which scientists consider to be the safe limit. It is currently around 390 ppm, and increasing. If we don’t start reducing emissions now, we will get to a point where irreversible climate crisis will occur. You can read more about the science behind this here.

Why did you go there and do you have time to do that?
minwoo,
I took part because I believe that climate change is the most important issue at the moment. And I want to bring that to the attention of other people. I think that if you think something is wrong in the world, you should do whatever you can to put it right.
Even authors have weekends. So yes, I found the time to attend.
our class is reading your book and everyone thinks that it is good. Will you be writing another book?
wHAT IS THE POINT OF DOING THAT????
how did you get the idea of your book dragon keeper.

Luke,
I’m pleased to hear that your class is enjoying my book. I am always writing. I have written 17 books and am currently writing another Dragonkeeper book.
You must not expect me to reply straight away. I work during the day, on my books and I answer blog comments emails etc about twice a week.

Kai is still a young dragon. Danzi is not in the new book. The book will be out in May next year.
Saxon,
I just wanted to write. There was no inspiration. It was just a need that was inside me.
I have no set number of books in mind. I just take them one at a time.
Jessica,
It took about an hour. It was well organised. Someone had already drawn it in chalk, I think.
you are an awesome writer.

guillaume,
I don’t want to give away too much of the story. There is a new human character. His name is Tao.
Luke,
I have been calling the book Blood Brothers, but the publishers aren’t keen on that. So at the moment I don’t know what it’s called.
thanks
Oh gawsh I haven’t been on this blog since 2009!!! I guess i’ve been so busy lately these past few years! Woah! I no longer live In Australia so the chance of meeting you is quite low =( I re-read the dragonkeeper series lately and so I thought of coming back here =) Melbourne is such a wonderful city I just went there this year for the 1st time, that photograph is amazing!!! I did a bit of research and i found out that 175 countries participated in this “moving planet” project(?) 175 countries that’s amazing right?! There were also more than 2000 events for this! O______O
Hi Rosaria,
Welcome back.
Yes, it was a wonderful worldwide event. I was very pleased to be a part of it.
Well done for doing your own research and finding out about it yourself.
do u think ur next book will be as good as the others?
guillaume,
I have no way of knowing whether readers will like it or not.
Carole, my family and I cannot wait until May 2012 to read the new Dragonkeeper book. Your writing is a gift to us, Carole. Thank you for creating incredible characters who teach us all so much.
Dixie
Thank you for your kind words.
The May publication date is for Australia. No deal for US as yet for the new book.
It was great that you took part in the Melbourne Human Sign! I bet it was fun.
In the school’s library, they have dragonkeeper and everyoen how has read it, has LOVE IT! They can’t wait until the fourth book comes out!!!
WHy did you chose to do writing instead of other jobs?
Why do you find writing fun?
Adele,
I chose writing because I wanted to write stories. No other reason. I like creating stories, that bit is fun. Sometimes the actual writing isn’t fun. It’s hard work like any other job.
dear carole
its me madi
i think its really great that u took part in the human sign
it looks great where are u in it???
anyway im writing a book and i have really enjoyed doing it but im not sure if other people will like it
its about three kids who time travel through a toilt and find them self facing gnomes and more
what do u think
Madi,
As I say in the blog, I am near the knee.
I have been planning a time travel novel for some time.
Your idea sounds good.
Writers never know whether anyone else will like what they write. It’s the most scary thing about writing.
thank you carole
you are a very lovely lady
