National Bookshop Day 9th August

Tomorrow is National Bookshop Day. It’s a day when Australians get out and support their local bookshops, celebrating the fact we have so many terrific bookshops. The great thing about bookshops is, not only do they have all the books we want to buy, they are staffed by wonderful booksellers who know all about books and can recommend books to you based on your tastes. They can tell you about new authors, new trends and old favourites.

Authors love bookshops and booksellers, and to prove it we will be out in force tomorrow at our own local bookshops, reading, recommending, ringing up your purchases. There will be activities. I am hopeful that there will be cake. So visit your local bookshop, get to know your booksellers. They are your friends.

I will be at two of my local bookshops tomorrow, so if you’re in the area come and say hello. There will be lots of other authors there too, throughout the day.

  1. Hello Carole. Looking through your pasts posts this evening, I came across this one. I wondered if you might visit any bookshops this coming National Bookshop Day. My daughter and I would be delighted to meet you.
